👋 A Little About Me!!

From the first time I watched a story unfold on screen, I dreamed of being part of that world — stepping into characters, sharing stories, and creating moments that make people feel something real.

I’m Daniel L. Melo, a Dominican American actor and singer, born in the U.S. to parents from the Dominican Republic. Music and language have always been part of who I am — I love singing in both Spanish and English, and I bring that passion into every performance, whether on stage or in front of a camera.

As a child, I was energetic and curious. My father enrolled me and my older sister in commercial acting classes, and it was there that I discovered my love for performing. In school, I was required to read plays in English class, and I quickly found myself drawn to the stories and characters, enjoying the chance to explore them in class performances. Growing up in the Bronx, with weekends visiting my grandmother in Washington Heights, I absorbed the rhythm, energy, and culture of New York City — a city that shaped my curiosity, resilience, and connection to people.

At 16, I joined my high school choir, and at 18, as a senior, I performed in my first musical — almost by accident. My choir teacher assumed I was there to audition, but I had no interest and hadn’t thought about acting in years. She insisted I wouldn’t leave without auditioning, so I gave it a try — and was cast. That moment reignited my love for performing and set me on the path to pursuing acting seriously. Since then, I’ve performed in plays and musicals across the country, each role teaching me more about craft, collaboration, and the human experience.

While theatre has been my foundation, my ultimate dream is to bring stories to life on screen, portraying characters that resonate and reflect authentic voices, especially those of the Latino community. Acting, for me, is more than a craft — it’s a way to understand people, explore life’s complexities, and connect audiences to truths that feel personal and universal.

Offstage, I value empathy, curiosity, and meaningful connections — whether with fellow artists, mentors, or strangers who inspire a story. Each role, each project, and each encounter shapes the way I show up in the world, both as an artist and as a person.

Whether you’re here as a director, casting professional, friend, or fellow storyteller, I hope my journey conveys my dedication to the craft, my love for human connection, and my desire to create work that resonates, uplifts, and entertains.
